Central Phoenix spans three main areas/neighborhoods — Downtown, Midtown and Uptown. Downtown Phoenix is the main financial, cultural, and major event center of the city. Downtown is full of historic homes, new condominium high-rises, and city-apartments. The area is a bustling epicenter of professionals, local business owners, and students from Arizona State University’s downtown campus. Locally owned specialty stores, restaurants, coffee shops and bars are aplenty and dotted throughout the city.
Downtown Phoenix’s Convention Center, major event and sporting venues are all within reach. Nearby Encanto Park is a central Phoenix jewel, with brilliant views of the downtown skylines, world class golf courses, and even a lagoon for boating and fishing in the middle of the city.
Midtown Phoenix is a popular area with residents who want to live close to downtown-proper, but not be in the heart of downtown. Phoenix’s midtown corridor is a hip area with restaurants, coffee shops and bistros perfect for destination dining or post-work eats. Uptown Phoenix is a neighborhood in the city of Phoenix which includes both urban and suburban areas. The mountain preserve areas surround and run through this popular part of town. There are a wide variety of new and established restaurants and local coffee shops. Many of its schools are top rated and draw students from other parts of the Valley and the light rail runs through the southern part of the neighborhood. As far as housing, you’ll find Ranch-style, historic brick or block and newer stucco homes. Million-dollar estates also dot this uptown neighborhood. In uptown you will find mostly older, established neighborhoods with larger homes near mountain preserves and great schools.
SOUTH PHOENIX AREA
This neighborhood next to beautiful South Mountain is an up and coming area in the Valley. Much of this area borders one of the biggest city parks in the U.S. and has sprouted new golf courses, new subdivisions and shopping centers on some former orchards and farmland. You will also find Office and industrial parks here in South Phoenix.
South Phoenix has a mix of newer neighborhoods with golf courses and older, affordable homes within its boundaries. There are a few historic neighborhoods on the north end of this area. Near South Mountain, the houses are newer, bigger and higher priced. Mansions can be found at the base of the mountain. Older condominiums, apartments and some newer Habitat for Humanity subdivisions can be found in the middle of this growing phoenix neighborhood.
NORTH PHOENIX AREA
North Phoenix is popular with families and professionals alike. With close proximity to the Loop 101 and the 51 freeways and I17, you are just minutes from anywhere in Phoenix and a quick trip to almost anywhere in the rest of the Valley.
North Phoenix is one of the fastest growing areas in Arizona, with a variety plenty of shopping, great dining establishments, award winning schools, and upscale business and retail centers. The North Phoenix communities, Moon Valley, Desert Ridge, and Norterra are consistently rated as one the best working and living environments in the metro phoenix area.
